A lane-curve detection based on an LCF
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper proposes a novel image-processing algorithm to recognize the lane-curve of a structured road. The proposed algorithm uses an lane-curve function (LCF) obtained by the transformation of the defined parabolic function on the world coordinates into the image coordinates. Unlike other existing methods, this algorithm needs no transformation of the image pixels into the world coordinates. The main idea of the algorithm is to search for the bestdescribed LCF of the lane-curve on an image. In advance, several LCFs are assumed by changing the curvature. Then, the comparison is carried out between the slope of an assumed LCF and the phase angle of the edge pixels in the lane region of interest constructed by the assumed LCF. The LCF with the minimum difference in the comparison becomes the true LCF corresponding to the lane-curve. The proposed method is proved to be efficient through experiments for the various kinds of images, providing the reliable curve direction and the valid curvature compared to the actual road. 2003 Elsevier B.V. Modeling the Operational Speed of Tangents and Curves in Four-lane Highways Based on Geometric and Roadside Factors
Operational speed is an index that represents drivers’ speeding behaviors and shows the comfort and safety levels they experience. Many models had been proposed to predict operational speed in tangent and curve segments of highways. Most of these works had used geometric, with few of them conducted using roadside variables to predict operational speed. Also, the operational speed study in multi...
متن کاملIdentifying and Analyzing Stop and Go Traffic based on Asymmetric Theory of Driving Behavior in Acceleration and Deceleration
Stop and go traffic that leads to oscillate traffic flow frequently is observed on congestion flow. Unexpected reasons such as lane – changing maneuvers, lower speeds of leader vehicle and moving bottleneck cause stop and go traffic and amplifying delay and environment impacts. Stop and go traffic exactly can’t be modeled by traffic models, and also car following models based on kinematic flow ...
متن کاملIntegration of scanning and image processing algorithms for lane detection based on fuzzy method
In order to detect lane rapidly and accurately, the integration of scanning and image processing algorithms (SIP) based on the fuzzy method is proposed. Further, combination of the proposed algorithm with an adaptive threshold value for image binarization, the least-square method and Bessel curve algorithm are proposed for detection and to fit the lane. The proposed SIP algorithm was evaluated ...

This paper presents a robust and reliable system that navigates the wheelchair robot without manual initialization or a priori information in real-time in outdoor environments. The system can extract various lane boundaries including straight and curved lanes under different conditions. It is robust against noise, shadows, and illumination variations in the captured road images. The straight la...
متن کاملA Simple and Efficient Lane Detection using Clustering and Weighted Regression
Developing a vision based, efficient and automatic lane detection system from a moving vehicle is a challenging task mainly due to poor quality of lane markings, occlusion created by traffic, complex road geometry and nevertheless, the non-existence of unique models. The focus of this paper is to detect line or curve like segments from a video image taken from moving vehicle and merge them to d...
